Season 10 of Hero Siege has changed the class meta enough that old Season 9 tier lists are no longer reliable. Several classes received balance changes, while some familiar mobility tools were adjusted. That makes one question especially important for new players: should you start with Stormweaver, Samurai, or Marksman?
The short answer is simple: Marksman is the safer starter, Stormweaver has stronger endgame potential, and Samurai is currently the most difficult of the three to recommend as a first character.
Marksman: Best Overall Starter
Marksman is one of the safest choices for Season 10.
The class has strong ranged damage, comfortable positioning, and a straightforward leveling route. The current Gunner Drone setup starts with Frag Grenade and transitions into Gunner Drone around Level 30, giving the class reliable area clear and strong boss damage.
The biggest advantage is consistency. You can stay away from dangerous packs while still dealing meaningful damage, which makes Marksman particularly friendly to players learning the campaign.
For a first character, I would place Marksman around A to S tier, depending on the exact build.
Best for: beginners, solo progression, ranged gameplay, reliable leveling.
Stormweaver: Endgame Specialist
Stormweaver is a much more interesting case.
Some early Season 10 tier lists lowered the class because teleport changes reduced its previous mobility advantage. However, current endgame testing shows that Stormweaver remains extremely competitive. The Stormcloud build, for example, continues to use Stormcloud and Stormbolt effectively, while the class retains excellent mobility and multiple viable build paths.
That means Stormweaver should not simply be labeled “weak” because of the teleport changes.
For early campaign progression, it may require more awareness than Marksman. Once properly geared, however, Stormweaver becomes much more attractive for players who prioritize fast clearing and flexible caster builds.
Best for: experienced players, fast farming, endgame casting.
Samurai: Strong Potential, Rougher Start
Samurai is the biggest trap for players relying on old meta rankings.
The class performed extremely well in previous-season discussions, but Season 10 does not automatically give those builds the same results. Current early-season reports point to weaker Kunai progression, mana problems, and slower boss kills.
That does not mean Samurai is useless. It simply means you should not choose it expecting the same experience as the previous season.
For experienced players who already understand the class, Samurai can still be an interesting project. For a fresh seasonal character, however, there are easier options.
Best for: experienced players, niche builds, players willing to invest time.

For these three classes, my practical ranking is:

These rankings are more useful than simply calling one class “T0.” Season 10 is still developing, and different builds within the same class can perform very differently. The current tier-list sources also emphasize that Season 10 rankings should be viewed as a snapshot rather than permanent class rankings.
Which One Should You Pick?
If this is your first Season 10 character, choose Marksman.
If you already understand Hero Siege and want a caster with strong endgame scaling and fast clearing, Stormweaver is the more exciting choice.
Choose Samurai if you specifically enjoy the class and are prepared to spend more time solving its early progression problems.
Your first character also has an economic role. A smooth starter can help you farm Hero Siege Gold more efficiently and provide resources for future characters.
There is no need to blindly chase a supposed T0 class.
Marksman is the safest overall starter. Stormweaver has the stronger argument for high-end caster gameplay. Samurai is currently the least beginner-friendly option of the three.
For most new players, Marksman is the easy recommendation. For experienced players chasing endgame performance, Stormweaver deserves serious attention. Samurai is better treated as a specialist choice rather than the default Season 10 starter.
As the season develops and more complete endgame testing becomes available, these rankings may shift. For now, prioritize the build that matches your playstyle rather than rerolling every time a new tier list appears. If you are planning your next character, keeping resources available for upgrades is generally more useful than rushing into cheap Hero Siege Gold purchases.
